MWB #12 - NFTs, Optimism and How To Get A Job
...I love the journey ahead of us humans and I am at the edge of technologies that will be defining this future.
Hello friends,
I was reviewing the data of those who open this email before writing this week’s newsletter. All I want to say to you all is a big THANK YOU! For always opening and reading and clicking on the link to things that interests you.

When something that is barely known or even in existence a few months ago starts making the headline and also commanding value on the market, my usual predisposition is to pay attention to that kind of a thing.
NFTs fit that category for me this week. NFT means Non-fungible token. Jack, Twitter CEO sold an NFT (his first tweet) for $2.9 million and donated the money to an organization in Africa.
Well, I’ve been going the rabbit hole to understand what’s going on and its future implication for the world. Implication especially for those who would create NFTs and those who are poised to buy them.
NFT is a way to own digital assets. Imagine the music or picture on your mobile phone. Who owns the original copy and how can you verify the authenticity of anyone’s claim of ownership. Well, in a nutshell, that’s the problem NFT is solving. More resources below to help you learn more.

Emotional decisions are generally bad and their effect can often be adverse. But you see, emotional decisions while investing will not only be devastatingly costing a good sleep at night, it may also cost you a tone of your money. In this article, I explored this theme.
In 2019, reflectively, I wrote about how I moved from someone who was getting no reply from every application to someone who can now choose between jobs. Bringing back the article I believe will be useful for someone out there. May be you. Getting Any Job Is Hard Work And Luck
When the tides rollover you and the bumpy sea seem to be only against you. When the heavens seem closed and the earth feels like it will open up its mouth to swallow you. When you have done everything that you seem to know how to do. And yet, nothing seems to be working, in the midst of that, I will like to remind you that Optimism Is Still Your Best Bet.

All on NFTs
A Primer on NFTs - This is a podcast that seeks to introduce you NFTs.
“I think a really simple way to define NFTs is as a file or a file type that lives on the blockchain. You have MP3, you have JPEGs, these are files that live on your phone or your computer. NFTs are a new file type, a digital media file that lives on the blockchain. And that's technically not correct, but it's a good metaphor for what we're describing. The idea is when you upload a file to the blockchain, it becomes a token that can't be meddled with just like Bitcoin is a digital token that is provably yours independent of any third party. So, in a nutshell, NFTs make it possible to own a piece of digital media in the same way that you are able to own a digital currency like Bitcoin.”
NFTs and a Thousand True Fans - “To be a successful creator you don’t need millions. You don’t need millions of dollars or millions of customers, millions of clients or millions of fans. To make a living as a craftsperson, photographer, musician, designer, author, animator, app maker, entrepreneur, or inventor you need only thousands of true fans”
“Kelly’s vision was that the internet was the ultimate matchmaker, enabling 21st century patronage. Creators, no matter how seemingly niche, could now discover their true fans, who would in turn demonstrate their enthusiasm through direct financial support.”
NFTs and the Future of Work - “Technology will make it possible to compensate each person according to their economic value. That’s pretty bad news for most people, and very good news for some.”
That’s all for the week,
See you in the next.
